BIO
Born in Encinitas, California in 1988, Charmaine Olivia began her artistic journey at a young age, finding her love for oil painting by the age of seven when her aunt taught her how to paint. Influenced by her upbringing in a spiritual household, where yoga and meditation were parts of her daily life, her works reflect themes of mythology, introspection and the female form.
After high school, she spent two years as a yoga teacher while creating art in her free time. In 2008 she began sharing her work online, quickly gaining a loyal following online for her expressive and feminine creations.
With a diverse range of influences, from nature's beauty to the human psyche, Charmaine Olivia's paintings are a visual diary where she explores her emotions and interests. All of her works are self portraits, even when they don't look like her. Painting is a way for her to explore her feelings and imagination.
She experiences a condition called Aphantasia, which means she cannot visualize mental images, so she found painting to be a way to explore her imagination externally and to insert herself into other worlds.
